"This painting hangs in the Cottonwood Visitor Center, Joshua Tree National Park. Behind the center, a trailhead begins a 5-mile traverse of desert washes, hilltops and ridges, and finally descends into a canyon where this oasis stands. Almost unchanged, this native palm oasis looks like it did a 100, a thousand years ago.
For me, doing the research for this mural, this hike was the best part of the project. To hike into unknown places with expert park resourse staff is the high point of life."
