This boat, this dock, these flowers - those otters. You can't just make this stuff happen, this scene of what I'd call subtle beauty. The plank lines, leaning dock, the way the other boats measure out their images in this scene - it's why I own a wooden boat in the first place. Keeping it that way is another issue, for everyone seems intent on destroying it with cement, plastic and unrefined tastes. It's the way things are these days, and i'm not much in favor of it.
