Above the River
It's not a commonly known trail, but it was always a joy for me. After leaving the flats below, the trail switches up the hill and levels out above the freeway. Yes, Freeway! They've built a freeway here under the cliff, listed as one of the most beautiful ever constructed! Is there a most beautiful freeway ever NOT constructed. I'd give an award for that one, wherever it is.
At any rate, forget the freeway. The river, the redwood grove, the soft light coming from the west above the Rockefeller Grove - and the bald eagle. It was a memorable scene. One of the things very enjoyable about painting. I get to relive that moment each time I see the painting, such as right now.
