Ancient Whitebarks in Peril
I painted two whitebark pine paintings in 2007. The second is of Crater Lake, so look at it too. Both show the tragic changes we've brought to these beautiful high mountains of the west. Whitebark pines are in real trouble, and an entire ecosystem depends on them. For us, whitebarks were THE trees we all enjoyed photographing or painting along the rim of Crater Lake, but the jays, nutcrackers, bears, squirrels and many others depend on the tree for life.
